We live in a society full of restlessness. We can be consumption-oriented as well as an identity seeking people. We strive after peace, but rest doesn't come from buying a product or achieving a title; it comes from Sabbath. A word that literally means stopping. The practice of "Sabbathing" is an extended period of time set aside to stop - stop working, stop wanting, stop worrying, etc. - to simply rest in God's presence. Many of us are missing out on one of the most life-giving practices of the way of Jesus, and arguably, one of the most important for our present society.
