Fusion exists to partner with parents to train the next generation of disciples.
Fusion, as the name suggests, provides an opportunity for students in the Manhattan area who come from all walks of life, to meet together and form relationships and ultimately transform into new creations in Christ’s Kingdom. We provide a weekly meeting place for students to unwind and share time with each other in a safe, Biblically sound environment. During Fusion gatherings, students will play a game or two, listen to a Gospel-focused message, eat a snack, and share time in small groups listening to peers discuss life and the message.
All students in grades 6-12 are welcome!
Fusion’s focus is on developing Christian leaders who are unashamed of their faith and who have a sure footing in their beliefs when they graduate high school. We don’t have a flashy ministry with all the bells and whistles, but rather we want to live as Christ lived; as a servant to the lost and unwavering in faith.

The Gospel According to Matthew:
Who is Jesus & What Does it Take to Follow Him?
Ministry Director (Interim)
Matt Spade
Matt began attending and serving at New Hope while in college at Kansas State University in 2008. During his years in college he came to know Jesus personally and grew a passion for helping others know and walk with Him. He served several years in a local campus ministry investing college students and has just recently joined the New Hope staff to serve as the Associate Pastor. He is also stepping in for a season as the Fusion Youth Director. He is excited to give time and energy investing in the youth for a few months.
Matt finished his Bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University in 2012. He is currently attending Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to pursue a MTS degree.
“ I am a kid at heart, and I love to have fun. I get excited about play and believe it is a vital part of community. I also love finding ways to bridge the gospel to our everyday lives. I hope to do that through every aspect of Fusion from the games, to the teaching, to the small groups. Last, I truly believe in discipleship and the importance of one-on-one time with students.”
Join the Leadership Team
We are always in need of volunteers. Our youth ministry could not function without men and women who faithfully give their time each week to pursuing the youth of our church. If you think you may have a desire to lead/facilitate small group discussions, teach biblical lessons, engage conversation one-on-one with teens, or have a heart to serve in general, reach out! We’d love to have you on our team.
Being on our Fusion Leader Team (FuLe Team) is as heavy or light of a time commitment as you choose. We meet weekly as a youth group for two hours, and once per month as a leadership team. Outside of that, you may choose to meet one-on-one with a student or group of students, help lead a Bible study, or attend extra Fusion events. You may find that even in your busy schedule, Fusion is a doable commitment!
If you are interested in joining the team, email Matt (fusion@newhopeks.org) to learn about the next steps.
