Advent: Hope

Scripture: Isaiah 9:1-7

A couple of years ago an author described our situation with the phrase, “we live in a day of despair where people are hungry for hope.” This is the environment in which humans have lived ever since the first humans chose to pursue life independently from a loving and trusting relationship with the one who created them. But throughout the story of God, recorded in the Bible, is a message of hope for those who hunger for it. There are many places in the bible where we can go to hear the message of hope, but it is celebrated most visibly through the birth of Jesus.
